STUDENTS AND JOBSEEKERS SWARM DWTC
CAREERS UAE ATTRACTS HUGE CROWDS ON SECOND DAY
Young UAE national students and jobseekers in their thousands flocked to the Dubai World Trade Centre, as Careers UAE 2005 entered its second day at the
Sheikh Rashid Hall. The concourse leading to the exhibition was chock-a-block as youngsters made a beeline for the region’s largest and most comprehensive careers fair for UAE nationals, which in its fifth edition is bigger and better than ever before.
Students from various educational institutions throughout the UAE and national jobseekers were seen visiting the exhibitor’s stands and making inquiries with prospective employers as well as giving on-site interviews and distributing resumes.
Another big hit with the attendees were the series of forums and workshops running alongside the exhibition. The packed programme includes seminars and workshops on various topics of interest to students,
including hospitality and tourism, insurance, banking, job market assessment and realities, women in leadership and event management among others.
More than half of the participating companies at the show this year, which is 23 per cent larger than the last edition in terms of nett space, are drawn from the private sector - which include banks, multinationals, IT and media-related companies,
reflecting the changing priorities of corporates in the region towards increasingly turning to the local market to fulfill their personnel requirements.
Over the years Careers UAE has evolved into a key forum where all parties concerned with employment, education and training can meet and interact more frequently and effectively than ever before.
The exhibition provides a favourable atmosphere for educational and training institutions and employers to discuss ways and means of matching up education and training outcomes to the actual needs of the labour market.
