International Companies Gather for Largest Edition Ever-Held in the Middle East

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Governmental Sector Development, today opened the Middle East's largest Electronic Media and Satellite Communications Exhibition, CABSAT2007, reinforcing the organisers' confidence that this year's event will attract the highest quality of trade visitors to its largest-ever edition.

Following the opening, His Excellency toured the exhibition, meeting leading international and regional suppliers, seeing the latest developments in satellite communication technology and being shown demonstrations of broadcast equipment and products.

CABSAT2007 brings together over 500 exhibitors from 50 countries, highlighting a range of advanced trends in such breakthrough areas as High-Definition Television (HDTV), Mobile Television, IPTV and Broadband via Satellite.

CABSAT's growth has been significant in 2007, with a 27 increase in gross space, and a 53 percent rise in exhibitors from field of broadcast and production, reflecting the major growth of the Arabic broadcasting space.

Major exhibitors include ArabSat, AVID, Dubai Studio City, Eutelsat, Eurostar, eVision, Harris, Intelsat, Oasis, Panasonic, SONY, Technosat, Televes and Triax.

"We are honoured by the presence of His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri and are delighted by the strong industry response on the first day of this magnificent event," said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of CABSAT2007.

"CABSAT not only provides a targeted platform for ongoing business development, it also provides an essential opportunity for the industry to discuss its growth and development," he added.

One of the main show highlights this year will be two major industry award programmes, the "CABSAT DrDish TV Awards" and the "Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards".

The CABSAT DrDish TV Awards were created to recognise quality products, excellent services and genuine digital projects and solutions for Cable and Satellite Industry. The Awards will honour winners in the field of innovative products, service providers and leading television brands.

The Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards will focus on the individuals and companies that have contributed to the growth of the broadcast and production industry in the region.

CABSAT2007 takes place on the 6-8 of March 2007 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in halls 1, 2, 3 and 4, from 11am to 7pm. The exhibition also delivers two industry-led conferences, CABSAT2007 Broadcasting Conference which will take place in Ajman D on the 7-8 of March 2007 and the GVF Satellite Symposium in Sharjah D on the 7th of March.
