In 1999, the DWTC began hosting events internationally as well, with the launch of Gitex Cairo in Egypt in April 1999, then Gitex Beirut, Gitex Saudi Arabia, and Gitex Hyderabad - India.
In addition, the DWTC assumed management responsibilities for Airport Expo Dubai in November 1999, further increasing its capacity to host events and exhibitions.
