Dubai
International Convention
Centre:
The
state-of-the-art Dubai International Convention
Centre (DICC), which is positioned as the MICE destination of the future and
designed to fill a perceived niche in the market is a high-tech venue large
enough to accommodate up to 12,000 delegates.
The design and construction of the DICC took less than two years and the entire
project cost AED 650 million.
The DICC made its international
debut as the appointed host venue for the 2003 Annual General Meetings of the
Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund
(IMF) in September 2003, when around 16,000 attending delegates from around the
world greatly appreciated the high-tech facilities of the venue.
The DICC is tailored to be the ultimate answer to a meetings, incentives,
conferences and exhibitions organisers’ dream. The state-of-the-art facility is
purpose-built to cater to the increasingly-felt need for a modern venue for the
fast-growing MICE sector in the Middle East in general and Dubai in particular.
The centre offers an ideal setting for international conventions, congresses,
corporate meetings, seminars, workshops and incentive travel events. The
facility will also be suitable for a variety of special presentations including
theatrical productions, musical extravaganzas and other entertainment options.
The Centre’s Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Hall (7,760 square metres) is
divisible by operable walls and has the capacity to comfortably accommodate from
600 to 6000 delegates – its versatility and flexibility is one of its greatest
assets. When set for the maximum capacity as an auditorium, it can accommodate
2,500 retractable seats in a tiered setting and an additional 2,000 seats on the
‘flat’.
The flexibility of the Sheikh Rashid Hall is one of the highlights of the
facility that enables it to be used in various configurations for multifarious
purposes as the need may be.
The Sheikh Rashid Hall can be configured to include four large meeting rooms,
also located at ground level – two rooms to accommodate up to 547 delegates and
two that can accommodate up to 767 delegates.
A total of 22 breakout rooms in a range of sizes, complement the Multipurpose
Hall. The four largest are adjacently located on the ground level. Eighteen
smaller breakout rooms are located on the first floor level of the new
convention centre, easily accessible by lifts and escalators. These rooms can
accommodate from 50 to 220 delegates and are ideal for use as VIP hospitality
suites, seminar rooms, speaker’s reception rooms or organisers’ offices. In
addition, there are 16 breakout rooms and a ballroom available within the Dubai
World Trade Centre complex.
The new centre is complemented by a range of accommodation options on-site –
with two hotels flanking either side of the complex – a 412-room Novotel and a
210-room Ibis business hotel – in addition to the Dubai International Hotel
Apartments a short walk away with its 492 furnished apartments, available in 1,
2 or 3-bedroom configurations.
